Certified Auctions was started by Jim Adkins and Jodie Tom in 2002 as a "part" time job when they were not working full time in the restaurant business.  After closing their restaurant due to a family illness, they decided to go full time into auctioning and now they both have been certified appraisers with the CAGA (Certified Appraisers Guild of America).

Jim Adkins graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in Radio and Television.  Jim has been in the restaurant business for the past 30 years.  He has been a collector of oil and gas memorabilia including gas pumps, signs etc.  Jim has had numerous items in the Texas State Bob Bullock Museum in Austin, Texas.  He also was able to acquire the Original Gilley's Sign from Urban Cowboy.

Jodie Tom graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Music Education.  Shortly after graduation Jodie began her career as a sales support technologist with Uncle Ben's rice including their Foodservice Division.  She worked for Uncle Ben's for over 15 years spending time in some of the finest restaurants in the United States.  Jodie then worked for Enron International as a Computer Support Technician until Jim called her to help at his latest restaurant endeavor, "The Cowboy Ranch Grill and Cantina".  She was General Manager at the Cowboy Ranch until they made the decision to close the restaurant and go full time into auctioneering.
